How to use this page

The color of the launch ramps on the
Google map give a rough idea of the
restrictions likely at that site. Green
indicates that all-trailerable boats
should be able to be launched. Yellow
indicates only moderatly sized center-
boardboats may be capable of launching,
while red indicates more severe
restrictions. Clicking on the indicators
will give more info on the ramp and allow
for directions to be obtained.

Lake Type: Kettle / Glacial
Area: 866 acres
Lake Orient.: North-South
Max. Depth: 92 ft
Notes: Lake Fenton is home to the Lake Fenton Sailing Club. The club, established in 1965, fosters competitive sailing and supports fleets of C-scows, Lasers, Lightnings and Optimists (junior fleet). Club facilities are located on the Northeast shore of the lake.

Public access to this lake can be made through the boat launch indicated on the following Google map. The launch consists of 4 ramps with 2 short piers which access a large open area of the lake. There is limited parking at the site and lauching is prohibited when the lot becomes full.  There appears to be an ample set-up area at the ramp, however DNR attendants estimate that sailboats only make up a few percent of ramp traffic. A vault toilet, but no other amenities, is also present at the launch. The lake as a speed limit of 45 mph.

The large open area of the lake, and adequate launch facilities, should make this lake attractive for the day or weekend sailor. As with many inland lakes, holidays may be more problematic given the higer volume of motorboat traffic.» Download Michigan DNR Map
