is the largest, deepest and coldest of the Great Lakes. There are multiple access points along the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Great lakes sailing is subject to U.S. Coast Guard as well as state regulations. Sailing beyond the protected areas of harbors and bays requires careful planning. Local and lake weather conditions and forcasts should be consulted. The access point indicated on the following Google map is located within the Ottawa National Forest at the mouth of the Black River.
The ramp is run by the U.S. National Forest Service and is associated with a public marina with the following amenities: water, electricity (20, 30A), restrooms, gasoline, pump-out, ice, long term parking, public phone , dog run, day use dockage, playground/park, and grills/picnic area. The marina offers transient and seasonal slips and can be reached at (906) 932-1330 (Early May to Late September) or on radio channel 16.
