New Sailboat Dealers

Although powerboat dealers outnumber those for sailboats, many dealers for both small and large sailboats can be found throughout the state. Although several popular classes of boats are available, not all are represented in the new boat market. Sailboat models/classes without local dealers may still be purchased online or through used boat outlets.

Many popular classes of sailing dinghies are produced by Vanguard and include the Laser, Zuma, Optimist, Sunfish, Club 420, Club Flying Junior, Pico and others. These are generally 1-2 person boats in the 12-15 foot range. Dealers below, who market Vanguard sailboats, will likely carry many of these models. Some classes are even being built right in the state of Michigan. Nickel's Boatworks of Flint, MI locally produces several popular dinghies in the 15-19' range (see below).

New sailboats in the 12-20 foot range will cost anywhere from $3500 to
$15,000 depending on the model, size, and whether the boat will be rigged for racing or cruising. On the upper end, yachts from 30-50 foot in length can range from $50,000 to $300,000.
