Approximately 68% of the lake is less than 20 feet deep and there is a 43 acre island (Diamond Isle) in the middle of the lake (Jay Wesley, Michigan DNR 1994). The shoreline is reported to be built-up with home and cottages and lake traffic is reported to be high during the summer months. Public access to this lake is located on the lake's south shore (Lake street) as indicated on the following Google map. The set-up area near the ramp is rather small but the ramp discharges into open water.

Diamond lake serves as the home waters for the Diamond Lake Yacht Club. The yacht club, established in 1938, is located on the northern shore of the lake and supports Sunfish and MC Scow fleets.
